Numerous African groups have contributed to the development of modern African civilization despite the difficulty in finding research on intelligence among these diverse groups. In Africa, home to over a thousand distinct ethnic groups, a select handful have made significant contributions to humankind, particularly in science, education, and entrepreneurship.

Igbo Tribe: Located in Nigeria, this tribe is considered among the most brilliant and intelligent in Africa. The Igbo people, about 40 million worldwide, have achieved remarkable academic success in prestigious American and European universities.

Most Nigerian scientists and lecturers who have won awards come from the Igbo tribe. Additionally, research has shown that Igbo people have succeeded in entrepreneurship, with the bulk of successful business owners in Nigeria and other African countries like South Africa, Kenya, and Ghana from this tribe.

Venda Tribe: Another brilliant tribe in Africa, the Venda people live in the northern region of South Africa and number roughly two million. The Venda tribe of South Africa remains the most well-educated and intelligent of all the ethnic groups in the country despite the system of apartheid that persisted for fifty years.

In Gauteng and several other regions of South Africa, they hold and manage nearly sixty professional positions. Their academic achievements have yielded the nation’s best scientists, professors, researchers, and entrepreneurs.

The Lebou people are an ethnic group that lives along Senegal’s coast. The Lebou people have historically been fishermen. The tribe has made significant educational progress despite colonization and civilization.

Their academic achievements set them apart from other ethnic groups in Senegal and other French-speaking West African countries, where they also held dominant positions in entrepreneurship and construction.

Gurage tribe: The Gurage people are among the most intelligent in Africa despite having a tiny population of only 1.5 million. They live in Ethiopia.

Despite being farmers by trade, the Gurage people are renowned throughout Ethiopia for their diligence and for being role models for a positive work environment. They are among the best-educated people in Ethiopia and have achieved remarkable success in entrepreneurship, taking the lead in business in Ethiopia and certain regions of Southern Africa.

Tutsi tribe: Often referred to as Batusi, this ethnic group resides in Rwanda and Burundi, two countries in central Africa. The Tutsi people are Nilotic and were primarily herders. Still, with the introduction of formal Western education, they became one of the most prosperous and educated tribes in Central Africa, outperforming other competing ethnic groups in both business and education.
