Ali Bukar Dalori has taken over as the interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after receiving instructions from President Bola Tinubu.

This development comes after Abdullahi Ganduje officially stepped down from his role as the party’s National Chairman.

Ganduje submitted his resignation through the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, to the National Working Committee (NWC).

The APC’s announcement has ended the uncertainty and speculation about whether Ganduje would indeed resign.

In a statement, APC spokesperson Felix Morka explained that Dalori will serve in an acting capacity until the National Executive Committee convenes.

Morka said: “The President has directed the Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, to assume the position of Acting National Chairman, pending the meeting of the National Executive Committee of the Party to be summoned immediately to fill the vacancy created by the resignation.”

There have been reports suggesting that Ganduje’s unexpected resignation is linked to strategic political moves aimed at strengthening Tinubu’s position ahead of the 2027 elections.

Earlier rumors that Ganduje stepped down due to health reasons have been refuted, with indications that his exit may have been orchestrated to make room for the possible return of a prominent Northern political figure.
