According to Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot be re-elected in 2027.
In an interview posted on X, the leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) stated that anyone who holds a different opinion does not reside in Nigeria.
El-Rufai claims that Nigerians would not want to vote for the All Progressives Congress, APC, or the president in the upcoming general election because they no longer have faith in them.
This come despite the Tinubu administration’s assurances that the suffering of Nigerians would soon be over.
In a confident interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, gave an overview of the actions taken by the Tinubu administration thus far to steer the economy in the correct direction.
El-Rufai said, “Anybody that thinks it is possible for President Bola Tinubu to get re-elected is living in another country, not Nigeria. It is impossible for Bola Tinubu to get re-elected.”
There is no path for the former Lagos State governor, according to the former governor and political ally of President Bola Tinubu.
He claimed that because Nigerians disapprove of the APC and the current administration’s policies, Tinubu would be defeated by even the weakest opposition.
“I don’t see a pathway for him,” he said.
El-Rufai insisted that the voters are the true aim of the SDP and its new coalition, and that those who leave the ruling party are irrelevant.
“It is greedy and hungry politicians and those that are looking for money, contract, appointment, office that are defecting,” he added.
“The other class of those defecting are those that know that the EFCC or ICPC can intimidate them, because they know what they have done if they have done what is not quite right.
“And this is what I think the SDP and the coalition of political parties or grouping that we are working with is targeting. We believe that the 2027 elections will be between the APC and Nigerians.”
Now a member of the SDP, El-Rufai is leading a coalition against the present government after having backed Bola Tinubu’s election in 2023.
El-Rufai is leading the coalition to remove President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election, together with likes of former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and others.
