Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has urged devout Muslims in the nation to start looking for the new moon of Shawwal 1445 AH on Monday.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Sultan granted the order through Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto.

“This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Monday 8th April 2024, which is equivalent to the 29th day of Ramadan 1445AH, shall be the day to look for the new moon of Shawwal 1445AH.

“Muslims are therefore requested to start looking for the new moon of Shawwal 1445AH on Monday and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto,” the statement said.

That would mark the conclusion of the country’s Muslim faithful’s month-long Ramadan fast when it is sighted on Monday.
