Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Friday held a meeting with Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Senator Rufai Hanga at his office in Abuja.

The development comes amid growing speculation over an alleged plan by the senator to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Senator Hanga is reportedly weighing the option of leaving the NDC after missing out on the Kano Central Senatorial ticket, the party’s deputy governorship slot and other political appointments reportedly controlled by Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Recalling that earlier this week, Hanga hosted the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside a delegation of Kano State APC executive members at his residence.

As of the time this report was filed, the purpose and outcome of the meeting between Governor Yusuf and Senator Hanga had not been made public.
