The violence and bloodshed in Bakkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, which resulted in numerous casualties, have been condemned by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN.

Alhaji Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, the national president of MACBAN, condemned the murders in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja.

“The intolerance that is fanning this circle of violence must be stopped by the Federal and Plateau State governments. This act of barbarism by the actors must be condemned by all, irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliation,” he said.

According to Othman-Ngelzarma, the association backed President Bola Tinubu’s orders to the security services to find the offenders and prosecute them.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the President for ordering the distribution of supplies to the victims.

The Plateau State Government was urged by Othman-Ngelzarma to take pastoralists into account and put them in the list of recipients of the relief supplies.

Pastoralists, in his opinion, suffered more from the disaster.

“As a responsible association, we call on the leadership of both the antagonist and protagonist in the area to embrace peace. Leaders from all sides must understand that the continuous spilling of innocent citizens’ blood will only bring misery, not peace.

“It is clear that all these years, where violence had been the order of the day, people had gained nothing, either as victors or losers,” he said
