The Senator representing Edo North, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has disputed assertions by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, that he was instrumental in securing the late Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in the 2015 presidential election.
Oshiomhole argued that Amaechi did not even cast a vote for Buhari during the election.
Speaking during an appearance on The Mic On Podcast on Sunday, the former Edo State governor alleged that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) stalwart was unable to participate in the voting process because he was politically outmatched by former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
The senator further claimed that despite serving as Director-General of Buhari’s presidential campaign, Amaechi instructed his supporters in Rivers State to stay away from the polls.
He stated, “Amaechi lied that he made Buhari president. Amaechi was not able to vote for Buhari in 2015 because he unwisely directed the people of Rivers State to boycott the polls as he was overwhelmed by the forces of Wike.
“As Director-General of the campaign, he asked his people not to vote.”
Amaechi had recently maintained during an interview on Arise Television that he, rather than President Bola Tinubu, played the decisive role in ensuring Buhari’s emergence as president in the 2015 election.
