Grammy-winning Nigerian music star Burna Boy has added another milestone to his career after his World Cup collaboration with Shakira, ‘Dai Dai’, set a new chart record, overtaking ‘Waka Waka’ as the highest-charting World Cup song in history.
This week, ‘Dai Dai’ climbed 25 places to reach a peak of No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing the previous record held by Shakira and Freshlyground’s ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’.
The track also rose to No. 3 on the Canadian Hot 100 this week and is currently in contention for the top position on the UK Official Singles Chart.
Meanwhile, Billboard has officially discontinued the World Digital Song Sales chart.
The final edition of the chart was published on June 27, 2026.
The ranking had served as a measure of the commercial success of songs from regions including Nigeria, Asia, the Caribbean, South Africa and several other countries.
Over the years, Nigerian artistes such as Wizkid, Mr Eazi and Rema all reached the summit of the chart.
